Nagoya University

We have been investigating R&D on the higher performance, higher reliability and environment friendliness of electric materials, power apparatus and transmission system for next generation. Especially, we aim to elucidate physical and fundamental process on electrical insulation performance which dominates the reliability of electric power apparatus, and to develop advanced electric power apparatus and systems which contribute to the rational insulation design and diagnosis of the power apparatus. Through these research activities, we will discuss how to transmit and control the electric power and energy with the higher reliability and efficiency. We also investigate the promising future power apparatus and transmission system with applied superconductivity and so on. The main research subjects are

1) Environment-friendly and highly functional electric power apparatus and systems,

2) Condition monitoring and diagnosis by partial discharge measurement with ultra-high sensitivity,

3) Discharge and charging control in vacuum,

4) Application of functionally graded materials to electric power apparatus,

5) Design and operation of superconducting power apparatus and systems,

6) Electric field analysis, measurement, high electric field phenomena and evaluation.
