It is crucial to continuously develop the society while balancing between environmental problems and energy issues. One of big research trends to solve these problems is a realization of hydrogen energy-based society which enables low carbon society. Research center for Hydrogen Energy-based Society established in Tokyo Metropolitan University aims to realize a Åggreen energy systemÅh using Åghydrogen fuelÅh in Tokyo and World. We promote research and development of hydrogen fuel cells and the necessary infrastructure, such as a network of hydrogen refueling stations, and hydrogen production and carrier systems. Five research groups: (1) Division of high performance fuel cell systems, (2) Division of hydrogen supply systems and carriers, (3) Division of hydrogen atmospheric environment, (4) Division of high efficiency energy conversion systems, (5) Division of infrastructure and buildings with energy-saving systems are carrying out comprehensive and cross-cutting research for the realization of a Åghydrogen energy societyÅh across a wide range of disciplines.
Our Department also focuses on the energy- and environment-related fields that benefit people and covers a very wide range of research fields. Our research activities are carried out focusing on energy, nanotechnology, the environment, and materials science, by 11 research groups in the Department. These groups are leaders in their respective fields and have gained an excellent reputation in the world.
We welcome well-rounded students who have studied a wide range of subjects at University and who will commit themselves to research topics of interest. We hope that you will join us, play a leading role in opening up new research fields in Graduate Program for Power Energy Professionals, and mature into researchers or engineers who can advance energy- and environment-related fields in the 21st century.
