    Which major should I choose?
    Select a major that is a part of this program. (It is not required to choose an integrated major). Please contact the support service at each university.

    Are there scholarships?
    There is an qualifying examination during the 3rd year (TD3) in this program. Students who have completed at least 30 units of prescribed courses and have published at least 1 research paper are eligible to take this examination. (Timing and eligibility differ for a part of TD2 transfer students and TD3 transfer students.) The examination consists of an oral interview examining research results, degree of understanding, and research plans from TD3 and beyond.
    Does the program offer reimbursement for expenses associated with going to various places on PEP complusory courses?
    There is aid for necessary expenses for the required PEP compulsory courses.
  • Curriculum
    What courses should I take?
    In the PEP compulsory subjects in the 13-university shared curriculum, there are 7 courses of 10 units. By taking other PEP specialized elective subjects of 15 or more units, as well as 5 or more units in PEP comprehensive elective subjects, students will earn the 45 units required for completing this program. (The required number of credits differs for TD3 transfer students.) Information on elective courses is listed in the shared program course policy for each university, so please contact the person in charge at each university.

    What is QE?
    In this program, there is an examination before advancing to year 3 (TD3). Students who have completed at least 30 units of prescribed courses and have published at least 1 research paper are eligible to take this examination. The examination consists of an oral interview examining research results, degree of understanding, and research plans from TD3 and beyond.
    If I fail QE, will I be unable to proceed to the doctoral course?
    Though the policies for each major will be different, as a rule, you will still be able to move on. However, you will be unable to take part in program courses and activities required for TD3 and beyond.
    Can I only take QE once?
    You are only allowed to re-examine once. You will get detailed feedback on your exam results, so examine and overcome your weak points, devise a sound strategy for improvement, and challenge the examination once more.
